Can I Use Petroleum Jelly as a Lubricant? Can I Use Moisturizer as a Lubricant?

I've been using condoms for awhile now and I have found that even lubricated condoms get dry too fast. I was wondering if I could use Vaseline or some kind of petroleum jelly as a lubricant. I had one girlfriend who used her body lotion as a lubricant. Is that OK?
I know it's tempting to use a hand moisturizer as a lubricant but it just isn't a good idea. If you use petroleum jelly as a lubricant you are just asking for problems too. You should only use water-based and silicone-based lubricants with condoms. Any other type of substance could damage the condom, decreasing its effectiveness.

Most moisturizers and petroleum jelly products are designed for external use so they really are not meant for use for vaginal or anal sex. There are several types of personal lubricants on the market so we are sure that you will find one you like. We suggest trying a warming or a tingling lubricant. Gels are also a great option and tend not to be as messy if that is something that you are concerned about.
